·          TO REGISTER-- MAIL THE CLASS FEE along with name of class, your name, address and phone # –or PHONE US  WITH CREDIT CARD – or REGISTER ON LINE .  ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR WORKSHOPS.  DISCOUNTS ARE FOR EARLY REGISTRATION RECEIVED BY THE DATE INDICATED

·          A PHONE CALL WITHOUT CREDIT CARD WILL NOT HOLD YOUR PLACE.

·          REGISTRATION FEE IS  NON TRANSFERABLE except with prior teacher approval.   

·          WE REFUND ENTIRE FEE IF WE CANCEL OR WEATHER PROHIBITS TRAVEL

·          ½ THE CLASS FEE WILL BE REFUNDED IF STUDENT CANCELS AT LEAST 2 DAYS IN ADVANCE.  No refunds will be given after this time.

·          SALES TAX will be calculated on the portion of the class fee which covers supplies

 

* **  A LATE FEE OF $20 WILL BE ADDED FOR ANYONE WHO REGISTERS LESS THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE THE CLASS unless filling a cancellation.

Beginning Wire Wrap
Taught by Wire Wizard Wendy Stevens

This is our premier class to teach basics of creating solderless jewelry using wire to set gemstones. Learn about the different shapes, gauges and hardness of wire, as well as when to use them. Make twisted wire. We will make a pair of earrings and two pendants.

Learn this interesting and fun Chain Maille Link called the Barrel. Students will be making a bracelet in 3 colors, which will enable you to understand and work the links as well as providing an interesting look to the design. Students will also be given an opportunity to try different pliers in the class in order to get a feel for what works best for them. This is a BEGINNING level Chain maille class, but a working knowledge of how to open and close jump rings will be helpful (but not necessary). Students should bring what ever visual aide (glasses, magnifiers, visors, etc) they use for jewelry making. Students who finish early are invited to purchase supplies and work on a second piece. At least 6 colors of rings will be provided to work with. This class is limited to 5 students, so sign up early.

caldron watefall.jpg (194974 bytes)The Waterfall - An Advanced Metal Fusing and Soldering Project
 Taught by Metals Master Murf Moorefield

Students will build a flowing, tumbling core piece by fusing both sterling wire and sheet. They will then be soldering on their choice of brooch and/or pendant components, and adding bezel cups for the stones of their choice. After polishing, stones will be set into their waterfall to create the image of tumbling waters. This project will expand your use of the torch and your understanding of the properties of sterling silver.  Students must know soldering.

Silver Soldering 4

Advanced techniques in silver working, including building a bezel and backing plate to fit a specific cabochon. This technique allows the silversmith to set stones of any size or shape. Must know soldering and basic techniques such as sawing and polishing as well as how to set cabs in bezels Successful completion of Soldering 3 or The Waterfall Class meets these criteria.

Learn to design and weave fibers and beads to create multi discipline one of a kind jewelry. Bonnie was a student of Helen Baines who wrote BEADS& THREADS and FIBER& BEAD JEWELRY. Bonnie was one of the featured Artists in Helen's first book. The class will take 2 or more sessions. Dates and times of follow up sessions will be decided by the class, so bring your calendars.

Taught by Guest Teacher Wendy Stevens

Take your metal working skills to a new heights by creating beautiful one of a kind mixed metal Hairclips, Barrettes, Brooches, Cuff Links, Belt Buckles, or something else out of the box using nothing but cold connections! File and shape metal base, sand edges smooth, create textures, and use color or patina of your choice. Rivet your designs in place using the EZ Riveter, finishing with the placement of the setting as appropriate to your design.. You will need to bring your EZ Riveter to class with you. If you have not already purchased one from us, please make arrangements to do so before the class. You WILL not be able to complete this class without your own tool.

Kumihimo with Semiprecious Stone Bead Chips
with Instructor Murf Moorefield

Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese weaving technique using several strands and a disc. This particular project will use Gemstone Chips with your choices of Waxed Nylon, Chinese Knotting Cord and Rat Tail. The result is a fabulous blend of colors and textures. You will learn how to attach ends, and to attach the Kumihimo to a chain to create a necklace. You will have the option to make a bracelet if you prefer. PLEASE BRING YOUR KUMIHIMO DISC AND BOBBINS TO CLASS, OR ARRANGE TO PURCHASE THEM FOR THE CLASS.

Learn the art of etching metal with several kinds of resists. One option will be your own drawn design, while you will also be presented with ways you can use commercial designs. You will learn which metals will work with this solution, ways of handling it correctly and safely, and how to dispose of it. We will be making multiple pieces, and at least one will be domed and punched so it is ready to wear. Students will be allowed to take their bottle of etching solution home with them. We will be using Red Brass in class.

Sharpen up your skills wrapping two enchanting sea glass pendants from our selection of sought after tumbled glass! Review your wire wrap skills, learn to set irregular shapes, and learn where to place your bindings. Learn more about round wire.  You don't need a trip "down the ocean" to find these little beauties...and at such a reasonable cost you will want to make more! Wendy will also talk about how to create your own ?sea glass? using a Tumbler and grit. (This same tumbler can be used to polish your metal jewelry, or to polish gemstones).  Must have taken Beginning Wire Wrap.
